“The Pilgrim”, production by Kristian Smeds

Welcome Easter together with The Pilgrim!

Gertrudes Street Theatre has prepared a wonderful Easter gift - the opportunity to celebrate the holiday warmly together with Finnish
religious playwright Kristian Smeds' production THE PILGRIM - performances on April 22, 23 and 28.

Special offer - for groups of more than 10 people we offer tickets for ONLY 3 LVL,
by registering in advance by email: git@git.lv

The Pilgrim is the story of an Orthodox believer's thorny path toward truth. Finding one's life purpose
and calling is an important, but by no means simple, task. It requires a brave heart, a strong spirit and
daring. Perhaps listening together to The Pilgrim's life story will help us too find strength within ourselves
to go toward the unknown? Kārlis Krūmiņš, Valters Sīlis, Juris Jonelis/Kaspars Aniņš and Artis Drozdovs
invite the audience to dare and go with them on the road in order to get to know themselves.

Finnish director Kristian Smeds, together with his friends, created in 2003 the informal
association Houkka Bros (“Fool Brothers”), which together staged a trilogy of religious performances - the Orthodox
legend “The Pilgrim” (2005), the triumphantly warm chamber musical about the life of Francis of Assisi “Children, Birds and
Flowers” (2006), and finally the radio show about Martin Luther “Doomsday Radio” (2008). Alongside large-format
performances, Smeds has begun a distinctive direction of religious theatre stories, unafraid to speak with childlike openness and
humor, yet at the same time unsparingly and sometimes even hooligan-like directly.

Let us welcome the Easter miracle together!
