Riga City Council invites! Good Star

Nominations are invited for Riga's Good Star 2011


On Wednesday, November 23, the campaign organized by Riga City Council, "Nominate your Good Star in Riga 2011!", began. The aim of the campaign is to thank people or organizations that, outside their work duties, voluntarily help others and by their deeds or words make the everyday life of Riga residents brighter and easier.

This year you can nominate your Good Star by choosing one of nine categories: "Person of the heart - bearer of hope", "Benefactor of seniors", "Support for children", "Helper of people with special needs", "Golden patron", "Best neighbor", "Improver of the environment", "Person - friend of city animals" and "Person - support".

Application forms can be filled out electronically on the Riga City Council website www.riga.lv. Written forms can also be filled out at visitor reception centers, Riga Social Service centers and Riga day centers during their working hours. A candidate may also be nominated by calling the free phone number of the Riga City Council Welfare Department, 8000 5055, or the free phone number of the visitor reception center, 80 000 800.

The Good Star recipients will be chosen by a special jury. The solemn award ceremony will take place already on January 6, 2012, Epiphany Day.

The Good Star campaign is taking place for the eighth year in a row, and anyone who selflessly provides material or moral support to those who need it may become a laureate.
