Church Yearbook 2012

The LELB Church Yearbook has been published. In 2012 it will again be an excellent helper for everyone - both in planning one's time and following the rhythm of the church year, and in seeking strength and encouragement in everyday life of faith. The Church Yearbook for the coming year is special because in 2012 the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia turns 90. It is young, as young as the Latvian state. Yet even in this short time it has lived through many trials and challenges, and even in its oppression and weakness it has been guided and strengthened by God.

The Church Yearbook 2012 contains Bible readings for everyday life and holidays, reflections on Holy Scripture, theological articles and articles giving insight into pages of church history, a chronicle of church life from the previous year and other useful information. This year the Church Yearbook includes not only addresses by the LELB archbishop and bishops, but also insights and quotations from previous archbishops of our church, introducing the sections of the Yearbook. Among them, for example, are the words of Kārlis Irbe (1922-1933), the first archbishop of LELB: "To show the way to others, one must know it well oneself."
