WORK IN PROGRESS Congress for Young People

MISSION-NET congress for young people WORK IN PROGRESS - growth in action
From 28.12.2013 to 2.01.2014, the third “Mission-Net” congress for young people will take place in the German city of Offenburg - one of the most significant events in Europe devoted to mission work.
It is an opportunity to worship and study the Word of God together with more than 3000 young people from different European countries, to grow in faith, to learn more about God's work in the mission field, and also to understand how each of us can live a life of faith in everyday life and transform our world!
About MISSION-NET (MN)
“Mission-Net” is a movement led by the European Evangelical Alliance (EEA) and the European Evangelical Missionary Alliance (EEMA).
The goal of “MN” is to inspire a mission lifestyle among Christian young people in Europe.
“MN” works by promoting and supporting new and existing mission movements, and by offering opportunities to be active in mission locally, nationally, and internationally.
The goal of the “MN” event is to bring Christian young people together for mutual encouragement, education, training, and mobilization.
Our vision is to see Europe transformed again. We want to encourage Christian young people to be history makers, transforming Europe and the world.
TRANSFORM - as Christians we want to show God's transforming power in society, bearing witness to it through our public and private lives.
OUR - this is not about individualism, but about working together. By acting in this way, we show society a model of unity in the body of Christ.
WORLD - it begins where we live, but a missional lifestyle reaches beyond my surroundings, my country, my continent, and my world.
About THE CONGRESS PROGRAMME
During 6 days at the congress there will be an opportunity:
- to listen to addresses and Bible studies on the book of Nehemiah,
- to meet in small groups and discuss what has been heard,
- to participate in interesting seminars and workshops (arts, children's work, practical evangelism, mime, etc.),
- to visit the “Global Village” exhibition hall and get acquainted with various mission organizations from all over the world, and also in the Mission Advice Centre to discover your skills and listen to advisers,
- in the mission shop it will be possible to buy books, music recordings, and many other things,
- at the end of the day to enjoy the evening programme and performances by worship groups together with newly made friends,
- to spend quiet time in the oasis or prayer zone.
During the congress there will also be mission practice - an opportunity to use the knowledge gained and, in cooperation with local churches, go help the people of Offenburg by performing drama on the street, singing in hospitals, collecting rubbish, and so on. During the New Year celebrations a Bread Campaign will be organized.
The congress will take place in English with direct translation into German, as well as simultaneous translation into many other languages.
More about the congress speakers can be read on the website
The goal of this congress is twofold:
- The knowledge gained, the fellowship experienced, and the encounter with the Living God will certainly transform you and your daily life. With new zeal you will be able to get involved in church ministry and many other things.
- Or you may choose to go on one of the mission trips offered by mission organizations for shorter and longer periods, to different countries. Such trips are organized throughout the year; all that remains is to pray that God shows the country to which He has intended you to go.
The main target group of the congress is young people aged 16-30. You may also safely go to the congress if you are no longer in this age group; only keep in mind that all addresses and themes are intended for the age audience mentioned above.
