On the Operation of Religious Organisations from 12 May

The Ministry of Justice, in accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of 7 May 2020 amending Cabinet Order No. 103 of 12 March 2020 “On Declaration of the Emergency Situation”, informs about the operation of religious organisations starting from 12 May 2020.

From 12 May, gathering is permitted both indoors and outdoors at organised events - also for religious activity by gathering - while observing the following requirements:

1. no more than 25 people are present at the event at the same time, observing physical distancing and epidemiological safety measures;

2. the event time does not exceed three hours indoors;

3. events in which a visitor participates while in a passenger vehicle are not subject to the above-mentioned limit on the number of people;

4. the event organiser ensures compliance with the restrictions and availability of disinfectants to participants;

The Ministry of Justice indicates that a worship service held by spiritual and serving personnel, without inviting the congregation to it, is not considered an organised event. Therefore, at places where religious activity is carried out, such a number of persons may be present simultaneously as ensures observance of mutual two-metre distance and other specified physical distancing and epidemiological safety measures.

Marriage, baptism and funeral ceremonies are considered an organised event within the meaning of the said order, therefore the number of participants, including spiritual and serving personnel, may not exceed 25 people, regardless of whether the event is organised indoors or outdoors. In addition, the time of an indoor event may not exceed three hours. For outdoor events, the maximum duration is not limited. In addition, the event organiser has a duty to ensure compliance with the restrictions and availability of disinfectants to participants.

We remind you that, without observing a two-metre distance, the following may gather simultaneously in public indoor and outdoor spaces:

1. no more than two persons;
2. persons living in one household;
3. a parent and his or her minor children, if they do not live in one household;
4. persons performing work or service duties.
