LEA informs! From Riga City Council!

1. A Nordic walking and family sports festival will take place in Vakarbuļļi, more information.

2. The Latvian Red Cross invites applications for children aged 7 to 12 for the day camp "I Want to Know". Venue: Riga, Slokas iela 49a, Riga Secondary School No. 41; dates: 24.10 to 28.10.2011; participation fee: Ls 15.00. More about the camp.

3. For the competition "Our class volunteers...", the deadline for submitting work is November 15, 2011 at 16:00. More about the competition.

4. The association Latvian Civic Alliance invites your school to take part in a new and unprecedented campaign, "Small Citizen", which will take place from October 31 to November 6. Applications can be made by writing to: alianse@nvo.lv by 10.10.2011. More information about the campaign.

5. Volunteer work at the National Botanical Garden, a great opportunity for Good Deeds Week. More about applying for volunteer work.

6. Creative work competition "I want to tell you...", open to students in grades 10-12 of Riga city schools and vocational secondary schools. The competition theme is "I want to tell you...". More about the competition.

7. Prepare treats for the inhabitants of the Līgatne nature trails, a great opportunity for Good Deeds Week. Acorn gatherers are invited to choose which animal they want to provide acorns for. Clean and dry acorns together with a drawing or a beautiful letter of good wishes, indicating your name, surname and phone number and specifying which animal the treat is intended for, must be delivered to the Latvian Museum of Natural History, K. Barona iela 4, or to the Līgatne Nature Trails Visitor Center by October 31. More about the campaign.

8. Become a participant in the record for creating the world's largest smiley; the record attempt will take place on 08.10.2011 (this Saturday). More about the campaign.

9. The association Latvijas Zaļā Josta announces applications for a new competition, "Through understanding - to active action". The aim of the competition is to promote understanding of climate change among pupils of Latvian primary, secondary and vocational education institutions. Applications for the competition are open until October 15, 2011. More about the competition.

10. The association Papardes Zieds, in cooperation with the Cēsis Children and Youth Center, announces applications for peer educator training "Think! Do! Live!". If you are 15 to 20 years old, live in Riga or Cēsis and are interested in health, relationships and sexuality, the chance to meet new friends, implement your ideas, have a great time and gain new knowledge in an informal atmosphere, apply! 11. The Latvian Academy of Culture invites you to the concert "Autumn Landscapes" on Tuesday, October 11 at 19:00 in the Anglican Church, Pils iela 11. Admission is free. More information.
