Recovery programme “True Freedom” camp in Uzava
The recovery programme “True Freedom” was started at Riga Mateja Baptist Church in 2012. Within this programme weekly support groups are organised for people who want to be freed from harmful habits, addictions, codependency, character defects or soul pain.
Every Tuesday at 19:00 at Riga Mateja Baptist Church, Matisa iela 50b, support groups take place. One meeting lasts two hours. Groups work according to a specific programme, following common guidelines.
The session begins all together in the large group - we worship God, listen to a testimony, watch one of 25 video lectures. There is a moment for fellowship - tea and sandwiches. Then we go to small groups, men and women separately, to discuss what was seen and heard and answer prepared questions. In this way we recognise the true influence of our character defects and addictions and learn to bring order into areas of our lives.
To introduce churches in Latvia to this recovery programme, in June 2018 we will organise a three-day camp in Uzava, at the “Ganibas” camp site.
We want to testify about God’s work in our lives and promote the involvement of new leaders and participants. “Be courageous and strengthen your hearts, all you who hope in the Lord!” (Ps. 31:25) Chuck Kelley has offered his help - a pastor, leader of the mission organisation Bridge Builders International, an American and Latvian at the same time.
On 7-8.06.2018 a seminar will take place for current and potential leaders of the “True Freedom” programme. In the training, Bill Specht from the USA will focus on the following topics - how to work with people and how to be a leader.
On 8-10.06.2018 events will take place for those interested who would like to better understand what happens in the “True Freedom” programme. There will be an opportunity to hear testimonies from programme participants about how healing was received, learn more about the programme’s 12 steps and guidelines to be observed, watch a video lecture, take part in small-group work on a specific topic, and also listen to a lecture by psychotherapist and pastor Uldis Jumejs.
In free time - walks by the sea, boating, sports, creative workshops, individual conversations and counselling, watching films and stories about experiences on pilgrimages!

Getting to the camp site - by individual transport. If you arrive in Ventspils by bus, we can meet you and help you get to Uzava. Information about the “Ganibas” camp site can be found on the internet at https://www.facebook.com or https://www.youtube.com
Cost for one participant - 15 euros per day. The price includes shelter, bed linen, three meals a day, involvement of lecturers and childcare.

If you can pay a little more, that will allow someone else to participate in the camp too! If lack of finances is the only obstacle to your participation in the camp, let us know and we will look for opportunities to attract a donation!
