Children’s summer Bible school in Ogre, review / press release

Interdenominational children's summer Bible school "Make Friends With God".
It took place from July 18 to 22, 2011, in Ogre.
For the fifth year, an interdenominational children's summer Bible school (VBS) was organized in the city of Ogre. Most of the local Christian churches took part in it. The event took place alongside the Ogre Bible Festival.
From 2007 to 2009 missionaries from the state of Tennessee in the USA came to Ogre, and that was a good example that for the second year now we, the people of Ogre, have taken over ourselves. This event gives a wonderful opportunity for brothers and sisters from different denominations to build fellowship.
A team of 40 people served the children. The greatest joy is that we can unite around one goal - to tell our city about God. I believe that God can use children to reach the hearts of their parents. During these last two years, taking the baton from the Americans, I wanted to understand what is on the Heavenly Father's heart right now, this year, for this city and these children. In prayer God showed that the children of this generation are like orphans in their hearts. Parents have no time for them; they have to work and earn money. The country is in crisis, and they themselves are in depression and despair. So children are left and abandoned on their own. There is a lack of love and understanding, and no one listens to them. Parents have no time to be together with their children. God revealed that we should tell them that He, the Heavenly Father, has time for children. Children can come to Him and tell Him what is on their hearts at any moment, in any place. God wants to help them. He loves them very, very much. And so all of us together tried to make this happen. It is important to teach children to spend time every day with the Heavenly Father, reading the Bible and talking with Him in prayer. In order to get there, we taught that Jesus Christ is the only Savior. Many children entrusted their lives to God during these days. Praise be to the living God! Since most of the children who came were from disadvantaged families, we praised the Heavenly Father as we saw their hearts change, tears fall, and God's peace and love fill them. For us who took part, these five days were also a new adventure with God. We prayed a lot together and each separately at home. I understand that you can give another person only what you have yourself. Therefore great emphasis was placed on the servants' own personal daily relationship with God. We experienced a powerful nearness of God, because every church prayed for us in a continuous prayer chain throughout the whole week. Ninety-six children of this city had the opportunity to taste a small part of heaven...
