Alpha Conference, November 5-6
Greetings from Gregorskola, where the Alpha Conference office is based this year!
Lutheran pastor Rinalds Grants, Catholic priest Rihards Rasnacis, Baptist pastor Edgars Mazis and other Alpha people invite all current and future Alpha course leaders and members of their teams to meet on November 5 and 6 in Agenskalns, where the Alpha Conference will take place for the third time.
New ideas for ministry, special strengthening and support will be provided by the Swiss delegation. The conference team includes 11 people from that country, among them Dominik Reifler and Martin Stussel, who have supported and consulted Alpha teams in their own country for almost 15 years and have helped introduce Alpha courses in Latvian churches.
Special seminars for Alpha teams will be led by people experienced in pastorates and small groups, specialists in the development of marriage and family ministry, experienced worship leaders, and teachers who will speak about work with children and about building connections with the surrounding society. Training for future Alpha course leaders will take place in parallel, focusing on the organization, leadership and content of Alpha courses, including the themes of the Alpha weekend.
Seeing how God blesses people through the Alpha course, we also ask you to take part in organizing the Alpha Conference by informing those around you and the wider community about this event, forwarding this message to your contact lists and posting the information on your website. Your prayers are also very important.
Information on the website www.alfakurss.lv is regularly updated and supplemented, and registration has already begun. This year at the conference we hope not only to meet all Alpha people, but also to see many new faces from new churches.
When registering by October 31, the conference participation fee is Ls 12 for Riga residents and Ls 7 for guests from outside Riga.

A special message for all pastors!
The Latvian National Alpha Office, in cooperation with the Riga Higher Institute of Religious Sciences, invites clergy of Christian denominations to a discussion on organizing evangelism work in churches.
How can we address contemporary society? What can we offer? What is form and what is content?
What do we expect from people who are not in church?
How can volunteers be involved, and how can responsibility be delegated?
Church building or congregation? Which is more important?
How can mission work be ensured when material resources are limited?
This practical pastoral discussion, which traditionally takes place on the eve of the Alpha Conference, is organized for the exchange of experience and the search for common solutions, with clergy from different denominations, future pastors, preachers and community leaders taking part. The conversation will be led by Catholic priest Rihards Rasnacis, with Lutheran pastor Rinalds Grants and Baptist pastor Edgars Mazis participating.
The discussion will take place in the premises of the Riga Higher Institute of Religious Sciences in Riga, Maza Pils iela 2. Entrance from Pils Square. It begins on Friday, November 4 at 19:00.

Do you know someone who met Jesus Christ specifically through the Alpha course? Most likely your answer is "yes". There is no doubt that Alpha is a unique blessing for our land, and God continues to use it in the work of His Kingdom. The Alpha Conference at the beginning of November is an important event in the spiritual world, so our prayers for it and our presence at the event itself are irreplaceable.
At the conference, everyone involved in organizing Alpha courses will be able to receive refreshment and encouragement for further ministry, and also to share experience with people from churches interested in Alpha programs. Let us meet on November 5 and 6 at Agenskalns Baptist Church to pray for the future of Alpha in our churches and to gain new ideas for church life and development.
