“Sela” Prayer Event 25.02.12

“Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what He has done for my soul! I cried to Him with my mouth, and His praise was on my tongue. If I had kept unrighteousness in my heart, then the Lord Almighty would not have listened to me. But God has truly listened to me; He has taken account of my prayers. Blessed be God, who has not refused to hear my prayer nor turned His mercy away from me!”

SELA - CONSECRATION AND PRAYER SERVICE, 25 February, 18:30, at Ozolnieki Culture House, Rigas Street 23.

Sela literally means - “to praise and worship, to rise or be lifted up, to stop and listen.” In the Hebrew text this word has a twofold meaning: pause, rock. The word “rock” is used many times in the Bible to depict God's protective care for His people. The psalmist says: “The Lord is my rock...” /Ps. 18:3/. “...You are my rock and my strong fortress.” /Ps. 71:3/. Why Sela? Why stop or take a pause and listen? What does God want from us? It is a serious reminder and command to set aside our desires, plans, and goals.

To stop and reflect on our relationship with the Father. To listen to the Holy Spirit.
What is your sela today? This time belongs only to God, and we live in Christ's grace; therefore the Lord through the Holy Spirit awakens us to be active, zealous, and
ready to serve God from the heart. Today praise and worship must be brought to God, not to people. The Holy Spirit seeks pure and clean vessels. Consecration is a serious process and an important step to which all God's children are called. This SELA is needed by you, by your soul, and by your spiritual growth. Come and seek joy in your Lord with brothers and sisters!
