Global Day of Prayer - June 12

“if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land.” /2 Chronicles 7:14/

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” /Habakkuk 2:14/

The “Global Day of Prayer” movement, founded in South Africa, has for 10 years on Pentecost invited Christians from all denominations to gather for common prayers and worship in a public place. In 2010, events took place in 220 countries with millions of worshipers. This year we also want to take part in these common prayers in Latvia.

In His grace, God has opened the way for us to gather at the Mezaparks Grand Stage to praise God together and ask forgiveness and healing for our land. Support for this initiative has been given and participation will come from: the Latvian Evangelical Alliance, the Crisis Pregnancy Center, Pastor Modris Ozolinkevics of Riga Pentecostal Church Dzivibas Avots, and the music group “Kaspars Ezeriņš and friends”.

We will pray and praise the Lord following the example of 1 Chronicles chapter 16, when David brought the ark of the covenant to the hill in Jerusalem:
“Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name, make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, play to Him, speak of all His wondrous works! Give glory to His holy name! Let the hearts of all who seek the Lord rejoice! Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His face continually! Remember the wondrous works that He has done, His signs and the judgments from His mouth.”

We will gather in front of the stage, on the left side, from where we will begin a procession of praise and worship with Holy Spirit flags around the stage. Then we will climb to the upper edge of the stage, from where we will continue to pray and praise. All together we will ask God's blessing over our land, and also pray for the opportunity to hold Christian Song Festival events in Mezaparks, filling all 34,000 seats to sing together in honor of God. On June 12 this year we will all be choristers and God will be our audience.
