Baltic Youth Festival 09.06.12

Honourable church leaders, brothers and sisters!
As you may already have heard, this summer, on 9 June, the Baltic Youth Festival will take place in Latvia, giving churches a valuable opportunity to reach young people from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia with the Gospel message.
The festival in Latvia is organized by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, inviting every church in Latvia to active cooperation. Many of us still vividly remember the Festival of Hope, which we organized together two years ago. Thanks to the broad public response to the festivals in Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has decided to continue this blessed mission work in the Baltics. This time - to reach young people, on whom the future of our land will depend, with the Gospel message in word and music.
BGEA has many years of experience in youth evangelism in the USA and Canada, where the most talented Christian musicians from around the world are gathered each year at youth music festivals. The festival in Riga will be special because it will be the first youth music festival organized by BGEA in Europe and outside North America. Both world-famous Christian music groups and performers, and musicians known in the Baltic countries, will take part in the festival. As in 2010, the festival will take place in the “Arena Riga” hall, and preacher Franklin Graham will address the young people present.
We invite every church in Latvia to become involved in this exciting and urgent challenge - to lead today's young people to Christ. Let us be honest: we do not always succeed at this well. In the Gospel we read: “I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:10). Let us join this mission already now, so that this summer may bring both much rejoicing in heaven and true joy to the saved young people and to our whole land.
In Christ's love -
Peteris Sprogis
Bishop, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Baltic Youth Festival
