Association “Family” Invites You!

The association “Association Family”, in cooperation with Riga City Council and the NGO “World Congress of Families”, invites you to the fourth international Riga Family Forum “Natural Family as a Value and State Priority”, which will take place on 17 May 2012. This year the forum's aim is to highlight the value of human life and the priority importance of natural family support policy in preserving Latvian statehood and long-term development. The main topics of this forum are the need to stabilize the demographic situation globally, the rights of nation states to choose the path to take for strengthening families, preserving national identity, improving birth rates, the importance of individual and collective choice in favour of life in national renewal, ensuring its spiritual and physical health, and the relevance of preventive work with families today.

The forum agenda includes presentations by foreign and local experts. There will be an opportunity to hear about other countries' experience in ensuring family support policy and encouraging birth rates, and to evaluate the significance of preventive measures in social work with families and children.
The forum invites participation by a wide range of representatives of society - representatives of NGOs and media, employees of responsible ministries and municipalities, politicians, social workers, demographers, and representatives of other professions.

The work of the association “Association Family” is directed toward restoring and strengthening in Latvian society the natural family, every human life, and the institution of marriage as values. The association unites NGOs and private individuals who provide practical help to children, families, pregnant women, and young people, and also carry out preventive work with society by educating it. Association Family also cooperates with state and municipal institutions and other NGOs in the areas of legislation, support, education, health, integration, welfare, and development programmes, and also implements various events at state and municipal level. The organization of an annual international forum devoted to strengthening the natural family and highlighting demographic issues has become a tradition.

We invite you and representatives of your institution to participate in the forum and discussion on the topic “Choices that determine our destiny”. Let us be active shapers of family and child support policy both in Riga municipality and throughout Latvia, so that together we can seek more effective solutions to prevent negative demographic trends.
