The World Evangelical Alliance marks its 180th anniversary.

Leaders, volunteers, and supporters of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) from more than 22 countries gathered online to celebrate the alliance's 180th anniversary and give thanks for God's faithfulness.
The ninety-minute celebratory program wove together the alliance's history, its current ministry, and future plans. Due to time zone differences, a rebroadcast was also provided.
WEA General Secretary Botrus Mansour emphasized Christian unity while preserving the richness of diverse cultures and convictions. He reminded the audience that the alliance's members choose to cooperate voluntarily and that Christians need each other's support.
The origins of the WEA date back to 1846 in London. Today, its network spans more than 160 countries and nine regional alliances, serving approximately 650 million evangelical Christians.
Chris Wright recalled John Stott’s contribution to the WEA’s theological work, while Brian Stiller examined the historical significance of the alliance. The program included prayers, Scripture readings, and worship.
Looking to the future, the WEA’s new website and the “Call 33” collaborative initiative—focused on the year 2033—were presented. The focus was on strengthening national alliances, advocacy, cooperation, and the refinement of organizational structures.
