Riga Cathedral invites!

Today, November 11 at 9:00, a service dedicated to Lāčplēsis Day took place in Riga Cathedral. On the Proclamation Day of the Republic of Latvia, November 18, Riga Cathedral invites everyone to an ecumenical service with the participation of the leaders of Latvia's Christian denominations. The services will be broadcast live on LTV.

The Lāčplēsis Day service on November 11 at 9:00 was led by Elmārs Pļaviņš, chief chaplain of the National Armed Forces, and Elijs Godiņš, dean of Riga Cathedral. The sermon was preached by Pāvils Brūvers, bishop of the Liepāja diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia. The Staff Band of the National Armed Forces will also take part in the service at Riga Cathedral.

On November 18 at 9:00, Riga Cathedral invites everyone to the ecumenical service for the Proclamation Day of the Republic of Latvia, with the participation of the leaders of Latvia's traditional Christian denominations. Archbishop Jānis Vanags of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia will give the address at the service.

The November 18 service will be enriched musically by organist Larisa Bulava, Edgars Bārzdiņš and Gints Ozoliņš on trumpets, as well as the united parish choir, which includes the choirs of Riga Luther, Riga Cathedral and Riga St. John's congregations and the mixed choir of the Riga Cathedral Choir School. The musical director and conductor of the service is Guntars Prānis, music director of Riga Cathedral.

Latvian Television will broadcast the Lāčplēsis Day service on November 11 and the ecumenical service for the Proclamation Day of the Republic of Latvia on November 18 live from Riga Cathedral on LTV1.
