“Christmas Miracle 2013”

For the fifth year, the exhibition-competition “Christmas Miracle” took place at the Ogres Prestizs shopping centre.
For the fifth year already the Latvian Evangelical Alliance, in cooperation with Ogre Christian churches, public organisations and Ogre Art School, organised the charity events “Christmas Miracle”, which include children’s drawing exhibition-competitions, concerts, awards and giving gifts to children. This year too, all young artists of Ogre municipality aged 3 to 16 were invited to take part in the drawing exhibition-competition.
On 28 December a charity event took place in Ledmane. The drawing exhibition was helped by cultural centre director Inese Nereta and Ledmane Primary School drawing teacher Sarmite Saidane. The exhibition, awarding of winners and a festive concert, featuring the ensemble “Worth Living” as well as the creative team of Ogre churches, took place in the “Blue Cross” church.
In an indescribably wonderful atmosphere and unity, as everyone in the hall sang together, classic Christmas songs sounded. After the concert the children received gifts, and the hosts - “Blue Cross” together with pastor Karlis Dreimanis - hospitably invited guests to festive tables richly set for everyone present.
But on 4 January at 15:00, in the concert hall of T/C “Ogres Prestizs”, the closing concert and awarding of the drawing competition winners took place.
The evaluation of 200 drawings took place on the evening of 3 January. The works were evaluated by a competent jury led by Ogre Art School director Peteris Aulmanis. As always, choosing the best was not easy.

Information about the charity event was posted on the portals ogrenet.lv and ogresfakti.lv, and posters were placed in Ogre city schools and kindergartens. However, it should be noted that not all young artists observed the competition rules: many drawings were not in the specified format, some small drawing authors did not have their name, surname, age or contact phone number written down. Other children forgot or misunderstood when to come to the concert and awards. Therefore in the future help from parents or other adults is very desirable.
Important information:
The exhibition will continue until 15 January. All children will be able to take their works home after the exhibition ends.
