Christmas for foster families!

The foundation Social Services Agency and the Professional Foster Families Association Terēze are organizing a Christmas event for Latvian foster families with children for the sixth year already.

The event is a point of review for the work accomplished and an opportunity to say thank you to families who care for children left without parental care. It is also a meeting of families with one another, sharing experience in the common work and the joy of meeting again.

This year the event will take place on December 10 at Ūnijas 99, in the premises of the Christian center Labā Vēsts.

Each year the number of foster families in Latvia grows larger; at present there are about 600, and the number of placed children is around 1000. Therefore an ever larger number of foster families also participates in the event. In 2010, 300 families with children took part; this year about 500 foster families with children from all regions of Latvia are planned.
An important condition is that after the long journey families with children would have the opportunity to refresh themselves at a buffet, but because of limited funding we cannot provide it. Funding is also insufficient for purchasing materials for creative workshops.
