The Bible message sounded in the centre of Ogre for six days

During the recent Bible Festival in Ogre, from 27 August to 1 September, local residents had the opportunity for six days to get to know the most unique book - the Bible.
Unlike other years, this year it was also possible to listen to 11 lectures on various Bible topics, view a Bible exhibition, take part in a talk show with pastors, purchase spiritual literature, including Bibles, and see specially prepared information stands of Christian churches.
Every day evangelism and distribution of spiritual-content brochures took place in the streets of Ogre, and in the evenings, on a specially built stage in the city centre, people could listen to songs and preachers telling about the good news of Jesus Christ proclaimed in the Bible.
A special day within the festival was also Family Day, during which children throughout the day could learn about the Ten Commandments in various creative workshops, participate in different games and activities, listen to musical performances, and watch a clown show. Thanks to the Latvian Baptist Union project “Festival in the City”, children had the opportunity to enjoy inflatable attractions and ride pedal go-karts.
“I believe the festival succeeded, because this year there was wonderful unity among the churches and God's blessing both in sending us good weather and in speaking to people,” says the main organizer Nadezda Juksa, who serves in Ogre Evangelical Church, expressing her joy after the Bible Festival.
The festival, which took place in Ogre for the ninth year already, was jointly organized by ten Christian churches. Churches from Ogre that participated were: Evangelical Church, Trinity Baptist Church, Christian church “New Generation”, Lutheran Church, “House of God/Power of the Word”, St. Meinard's Catholic Church, Seventh-day Adventist Church, Presbyterian Church “Grace”, Pentecostal Church, and also Lielvarde Evangelical Church “Spirit and Truth”.
“Next year the Bible Festival will have its 10th anniversary, while the Latvian Bible translation will be 320 years old, so already now we are thinking about how to make the Bible Festival in 2014 broader, more colourful, and more attractive to people who do not go to church,” says one of the organizers, Dainis Pandars, preacher of Ogre Baptist Church, sharing his thoughts about the course of the Bible Festival.
It should be recalled that the Bible Festival in Ogre is organized in honour of the Bible - the most popular book in the world. The purpose of this festival is to remind people of this Book's uniqueness and influence on the development of human culture, and to introduce the Bible's main message.
